Web Development

Websites are a window, open for the world to look at you, your company, your products and services – whatever it is you have to offer. Completing your web-based project is a process with several steps. It need not be complicated, arduous nor expensive.

Planning

Minding the little details in the planning stage will save a lot of trouble down the road. Colours, shapes, ample space. Define your message, and keep it simple. When a visitor hits your site you have about 7 seconds to capture their interest and make them decide they’re going to stay and dig deeper. If in those 7 seconds they decide otherwise, they are gone and likely won’t be back. What does that mean? They’re doing business with your competitor. While reams of content can be implemented deeper in your website, your landing page and sub-landing pages need to be clean, well-organized, and convey chunks of information vital to holding a visitor’s attention.

Gather your materials. Identify your target audience. Start the ball rolling.

Design

The aesthetics of your web project are as important as the content. Colors and shapes matter, as do fonts. Be open minded. Several different designs and layouts will be provided, usually 3 or 4 using different variations on a common colour scheme. Two revision stages usually lead to a design approval.

Build

Your design is cut up and rendered in HTML, CSS, and whatever other tools are used to arrive at the final product. This is a crucial stage where the architecture of your project is fashioned optimally for SEM considerations. File and folder naming conventions and best practices are utilized. Again, one or two revision stages normally conclude with an approved layout. Your content is then pumped into the layouts.

QA

Remember, we are striving for excellence – a web project that finishes with a product that invites and captures visitors and converts them into customers and repeats.  In order for this to takeplace every area of the web project must be tested thoroughly in a wide range of scenarios.

During the design, Build and QA phases of your project and bug tracking application is used. This is an area where you can log in and report issues or change requests. All of this is carefully documented and tracked so nothing slips through the cracks.

Launch

Once your project is complete and approved by you it is launched. Normally, DNS is well planned for in the early stages so that launch optics are the most efficient. Zero down time is the goal.
